African Finds
Trips and treasures
I traveled to South Africa for the first time in September 2019. As part of the trip we spent time in Johannesburg, Capetown, Franschhoek, and on safari at Singita, Sabi Sands.
My love of color was reinforced throughout this trip as I was so inspired by the local African handmade jewelry and art. I collected some wonderful pieces and even tracked down a favorite with the help of a newfound friend.

Shoes
Shoes are by Coast and Koi, a brand I fell in love with. Owner and founder, Caryn Wilensky-Sherwin has created a stunning shoe line, each pair is unique and handmade in Capetown.
Straw Lion
I had seen a straw lion posted on Serena Crawford’s Instagram and saved the picture in hopes of buying one someday when traveling to South Africa. As it turns out, thanks to the brilliant work of travel planner Mary Baskin, we had a fabulous lunch with Serena at La Colombe in Capetown and she was able to help me source the lion. The following day, we visited a stunning gallery called Ebony Curated located in Franschhoek and I was able to secure my straw lion.
Jewelry
I loved finding pieces with so much life and color that I am able to incorporate into my everyday style.
