Ranch at Rock Creek
Have you ever wondered what life on a real western ranch is like? Recently, I was able to experience it at The Ranch at Rock Creek. Nestled in the valley of the mountains near Philipsburg, Montana, this 19th century homestead offers a unique vacation for everyone in the family. They offer a wide variety of activities for every member of the family, from the kids to grandpa. It is truly a multi-generational vacation destination.
Our favorite activity was the rodeo. It was a real, authentic cowboy rodeo with roping, riding, and barrel races. Guests get involved by helping wrap the roping steers, trying their skills on the bucking barrel, helping sort the rough stock and watching practice rounds through the arena. It was exciting and a little scary! After the cows were lassoed and the horses were watered, we finished the day with a BBQ.
The food on the ranch was amazing! There was a wide variety of dining styles for each meal, but my favorite was the Cowboy Breakfast. Every Friday, you ride either by horseback or covered wagon to Piney Pond for a fireside breakfast in a gorgeous field on the valley floor overlooking the pond. After breakfast, you can journey back by covered wagon or journey forward by horseback for a 2-hr. ride on the ranchās 6,000 acres.
So, what does one wear on a ranch? The great thing about Ranch at Rock Creek is you donāt have to overthink what you wear. The dress is overall casual but donāt feel like you have to dress like a cowboy. Here are a few outfits that Megan LaRussa Chenoweth of Style Yourself Chic helped me put together and they were perfect!
I would highly recommend The Ranch at Rock Creek for your next family adventure. Iām not usually a big outdoor adventure person but this experience was amazing! The stunning landscape combining the water and the mountains, the comfortable and authentic accommodations, the yummy food, and the perfect cool weather made for the perfect vacation for a multigenerational family with a variety of interests.
